One of the best things about going to the salon is having a good old fashioned yarn with your favourite hairdresser. No matter how difficult your day has been, it's always a treat to sit back, get pampered and let your cares melt away... and walking away with incredibly healthy, beautiful, jaw-dropping hair.
That's why it can be absolutely devastating when you have to change your hairdresser. Maybe you've moved to a new part of the country, or perhaps your long-term hairstylist has recently retired. Regardless of the reason, it can be a bit scary to try out a new hairdresser.

Today, you'll meet Melvin, one of the senior stylists at Hair Intentions.
When you walk into 2/2 Knights Road in Rothesay Bay, one of the first people you'll see is Melvin. After nearly 15 years in the hair industry, Melvin started Hair Intentions with the aim of creating an inviting, beautiful, peaceful space for people to come together to enjoy a laugh, while getting their hair done by some of the best hairstylists in Auckland.
And, with experience working with the most well-known salons in New Zealand (Rodney Wayne, Servilles, Vivo) alongside some of the biggest brands in the hair industry (ghd, L'Oreal, Dyson), Hair Intentions is shaping up to be the go-to destination for your hair in Auckland's North Shore.
Melvin spent his early years hairdressing in and around the North Shore, but quickly moved to larger, more fast-paced salons in Auckland's CBD, where he rapidly advanced into management roles and built a reputation for exceptional cuts and his uncompromising colour work. Through the years, his work has appeared in a variety of spaces, including during New Zealand Fashion Week and in Remix Magazine.
In recent years, Melvin has turned his attention to mentoring other stylists and helping salons grow and succeed. He is constantly developing new skillsets and has achieved great success in social media marketing, in particular, working with online influencers to build credibility and organic growth.
Melvin is passionate about hairdressing and about providing clients with the best hair they've ever had. He holds a New Zealand Certificate in Hairdressing (Professional Stylist) (Level 4) from HITO/Te Pukenga.
