When we opened Hair Intentions in February 2023, we wanted to ensure our salon was different, in the best kinds of ways. The quality of our experience was always top of mind, and we knew that there were several values we could never compromise on.
To help you get a better understanding of Hair Intentions and our team, we've decided to share our values in a series of blogs. Each article will highlight a value that we hold dear... values that will likely match with yours.
In this blog article, we will share about our value of Cruelty-Free Haircare.
Over the past few years (and decades), science has made significant improvements to the way we look at manufacturing. Whether you're looking at cosmetics, hair products or home cleaning supplies, thanks to new technologies, companies are now able to test, develop and release new products without harming or killing animals. Here's a link to our friends at the New Zealand Anti-Vivisection Society (NZAVS), Aotearoa's primary charity focused on ending animal testing.
Sadly, there are still so many companies that choose to test their products on animals (or hide it, by paying other companies to test their products on animals) and you probably don't even realise it. Believe it or not, animals are still tested on all over the world (even here in New Zealand) for the products you use every day.
At Hair Intentions, we believe whole-heartedly that animal cruelty is wrong.
We are committed to providing our clients with the best possible products, all cruelty-free.
We are also proud to support NZAVS to end animal testing in all of its forms across New Zealand. Our monthly donations are used by the charity to develop research, drive awareness and help change the narrative, so more can be done to keep animals free from harm.
On our website, we are looking for new brands and products to sell that align with our vision of a world where animals are not harmed for our beauty. If there's a company you'd like us to stock, leave a comment below. And, to learn more about whether or not your favourite brands are cruelty-free or not, take a look at this free guide from Cruelty-Free NZ.
