If you've had the pleasure of having our hairdresser, Jessi Hawkins, colour, cut and style your hair, you will know how amazing she is. Jessi has a huge following of loyal clients who come and see her every few weeks.
We took a few minutes to ask Jessi a few questions so you can get to know her a bit better:
You're a very confident stylist, which your clients love! How long have you actually been in the hairdressing industry?
Jessi: I have been hairdressing for nearly 8 years. I have always wanted to be a hairdresser. From a young age, I was always super interested in doing my own hair and makeup, which then transitioned into me doing all my friends' hair and makeup, and it just grew from there!
Which brands have you worked with in the past?
Jessi: I have worked with a number of brands in my time as a hairdresser. These include Redken, L’Oréal, Davines and Wella and have been to amazing workshops over the years with these amazing brands.
What would you consider to be the best part of being a hairdresser?
Jessi: I love all aspects of colouring, whether it be a beautiful crisp blonde, a summery buttery balayage or a rich deep brunette… seeing the transformation and the smile on my client's face is the best feeling.
Have you strictly worked in hair salons, or do you have experience styling in other venues?
Jessi: While I am happiest working with my long-time clients, I have also done editorial work in the past. For example, I have worked backstage at New Zealand Fashion week in 2015 and 2017 with Servilles and 2016 with Redken. I have also worked on photo shoots for MindFood magazine and together journal, and was a hairdresser for two seasons on the reality television show, The Bachelor NZ.
